I have seen peace by Loraine Masiya Mponela
I cry for justice
and equal rights
the right to be treated fairly
in front of the law
how can I be content
with a written piece of paper
when the human being I meet
tells me otherwise?
I have seen peace
it makes me sleep
all night without worry
of pain, death or threat
But justice cries out
all day saying I am human too
I want no extra
I want that which everybody wants
Is it too much to ask
I am a human being too
Just treat me like one?

EVENT: Life Seekers Aid Art Exhibition – 6 November 2021, London. The Exhibition runs on the 7th,8th, 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th November 4pm – 9pm.
Life Seekers Aid (LSA) grew out of the Camp Residents of Penally – CRoP organisation, which has been a signatory to StatusNow. They would now like to invite you to ‘The Penally Camp Exhibition’. We will be showcasing the amazing artwork of Asylum Seekers and Refugees who were accommodated at the MoD Facility in Wales.
We are exhibiting artworks from artists who were present at the camp, the creation of which served as a lifeline and means of expression for people whose voices were being stifled. The works tell a human story of their journey, their homelands and the prosecution they have suffered along the way. They also tell of their continued mistreatment at the hands of the Home Office/The Far-Right.
The Home Office Policies/ The new ‘Anti-Refugee Bills’, which they are currently attempting to pass, try to criminalise/dehumanise people seeking refuge in Britain.
Like those involved, we are pleased that this exhibition is starting on a new leg of its journey in London, following its wonderful reception in Tenby and Haverfordwest in West-Wales.
We are exhibiting at:
Peckham Levels, Peckham Town Centre Carpark, 95A Rye Lane, London, SE154ST.
The Exhibition runs on the 7th,8th, 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th November 4pm – 9pm.
You are also All Welcome and invited to an opening viewing on Saturday 6th November at 6 pm. At this event you will be able to hear first-hand from the wonderful artists themselves and other inspiring speakers on this topic.
At this event you will be able to donate to support the artists involved as well to support ‘Life Seekers Aid (LSA)’ [A new registered charity] as well as ‘Human For Rights Network’ whose work continues to help others still being held in inhumane conditions in Napier Barracks in Folkestone.
Come attend and be inspired by the incredible stories of people seeking sanctuary in our communities!
